About Teresa

Teresa Velez started her career serving the needs of youth with developmental disabilities as a behavior interventionist for Sutton Foundation, a non-profit organization while going to college. She graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in behavioral science. She took a break to stay at home and be a wife and mom. Returning to school, Teresa got her teaching credential in special education at California State University, Fullerton, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree there in instructional design and technology.

Teresa has been teaching virtually for the past five years. It began as an experiment at another charter school in an effort to reach out to students in the high school independent study program and improve their attendance. She has been teaching that way ever since. She has worked over ten years in special education.

Teresa currently resides in the Palm Springs area of California. It gets very hot there, with temperatures sometimes reaching over 120 degrees! In her spare time, she enjoys stargazing at Joshua Tree National Park, riding motor scooters, watching independent films, working on computers and doodling.
