Field Trips

field trip

One of the amazing benefits of being part of iLEAD Exploration is the numerous field trips that are made available to our families. Here are some of the exciting field trips that iLEAD Exploration learners have been able to experience!

Original Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles

iLEAD Exploration learners toured the world-famous Original Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles. They learned about the history of the market, the family that owns it, and the many family-run businesses found at the market. Learners also got to sample goodies from many of the stalls, including freshly ground peanut butter and house-made toffee. Afterwards, learners scoured the market for yummy food and enjoyed lunch together.

Knott’s Berry Farm – Westward Movement Tour

Recently, iLEAD Exploration learners joined the Westward Movement tour at Knott’s Berry Farm. They learned about Black Bart and the stagecoach, the trail out west, and covered wagons. They also visited a one-room schoolhouse and watched a blacksmith demonstration. Our learners were able to enjoy the afternoon exploring Knott’s Berry Farm and all the amazing rides.

Astro Camp
Astro Camp was a blast! iLEAD Exploration learners had fun making new friends and learning about science while in the beauty of the Idyllwild Forest. Learners learned about lights and lasers, built windmills that generated electricity, rock climbed, zip lined, and played Gaga Ball. Astro Camp was an amazing experience that will be remembered for a lifetime!

Wacky Science Field Trip at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center

Learners learned about the basics of chemistry through fun, hands-on experiments and engaged in concepts such as covalent bonds and how we create and break them, non-Newtonian liquids and how they bend the laws of physics, and how matter can go through fascinating processes such assublimation and deposition. Learners got their hands dirty while crafting their own bouncy balls which were used to help them learn about polymers. At the end of the field trip, trained counselors juggled fire, created explosions to teach about free radicals, convection, and thermal energy in a safe yet captivating way.
